Sunshine Coast Health Centre, a top-rated drug rehab and alcohol treatment centre serving British Columbia and Alberta as well as of all of Canada, is proud to announce a new staff page focused on post-treatment planning options. The page introduces, “Fernando,” a dedicated staff member whose responsibilities include working with clients after they leave the Centre and re-enter society.
“Each staff member puts a human face on our hard work with clients to help them not only recover but stay in recovery after they leave the Centre,” explained Casey Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer. “Among Fernando’s skills is Hakomi, which is a body-centered psychotherapy methodology,” she continued.
Interested persons are encouraged to learn more at https://www.sunshinecoasthealthcentre.ca/meetfernando/. One of the key sections on that page is the explanation of Hakomi. First, the page explains that Fernando hosts one-on-one clinical counselling sessions with clients. During these sessions, clients explore different parts of themselves through guided experiments and exercises of mindfulness. Fernando explains his role as sitting with a client in a way of loving presence, appreciating the person, offering compassion, and an understanding. He allows space for self-discovery, providing a platform for an inward journey. Second, the page highlights client advocacy and case management services that occur after discharge. This means planning for a future post-treatment. This can range anywhere from establishing a gym membership to acquiring a family doctor in the client’s hometown and again to exploring different modes of transportation (in cases where a client has lost their license), nothing is too small or too large for the post-treatment plan.
