Sunshine Coast Health Center is the largest male-only private residential drug and alcohol treatment center in Canada. From our beginning in March of 2004, we have served men from coastto- coast including many from the United States and overseas.
The Sunshine Coast Health Center DifferenceSunshine Coast Health Center is one of only a handful of private residential treatment centers in Canada. Our approach to treatment is not typical of what you will find in government-funded treatment centers.
For example, clients need not wait to be "clean and sober" before being admitted because of our on-site medical detox staff with nurses, a physician, and psychiatrist. As most treatment centers have shortened their stay to 28 days or less, Sunshine Coast Health Center has a 42-day program. Another distinguishing feature is our 5-acre waterfront campus designed to enhance the treatment experience. Amenities include massage therapy, off-site recreation, a pool (coming Summer 2008) and a fully-equipped fitness center.
Treatment need not be a "one-size-fits-all" approach and our philosophy is that Canada needs quality treatment with more variety. We recognize that addiction is an "equal-opportunity" disease that affects all walks of society and we specialize in serving the high-functioning, mature male.
Serving the CommunitySunshine Coast Health Center is committed to reducing the impact of drugs and alcohol in our communities. If you represent a community group, school or employer concerned about substance abuse, our team of addiction specialists is available for group presentations. For more information contact us toll-free at 1-866-487-9010.
MEDIA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who should I call if I want to interview one of your staff for an addiction story? Please contact Kimberly Plumley of Publicity Mavens at (250)390-9285, cell (250)781-9847 or e-mail kim@publicitymavens.com.
What is different about your clients? Our clients are mature, successful men who happen to have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Addiction is an equal-opportunity disease as demonstrated by our clientele of professionals, business owners and specialized trades people.
What are the preferred drugs of choice amongst your clientele?Alcohol and cocaine (particularly crack cocaine) are, by far, the most common drugs of choice. Although crystal meth is getting a lot of media attention, less than five clients (out of a total of over 300) have been admitted for crystal meth addiction. Opiates such as heroin and Oxycontin rank a distant third followed by prescription drugs.
